Software Engineer (PHP5) in Austin, TX

February 4th, 2010 Job at Journey Education Marketing

Austin, TX — Greetings!

I work at Journey Education Marketing, which is generally an awesome place to be a developer. Our programmers are smart, funny, and friendly; the server technologies we use are a practical blend of cutting-edge, scalable, proven, and open source; the staff at large respect and appreciate our contributions; we get chances to solve many different sorts of problems and make a real and visible impact on the users, the customer, and the company.

If you'd like to work in a fun and challenging environment and you're fluent in PHP, SQL, HTML, as well experienced with object-oriented programming and relational databases, we should talk! If you're ideal, you'll already have some experience with MVC and ORM concepts (from any language -- we don't care if it was Propel, Doctrine, Django, Rails, CakePHP, Kohana, or something you built all on your own) and you'll be totally unafraid of the *nix command line. You might even have MySQL administration chops. You'll definitely be comfortable with at least one scm flavor -- bzr, git, svn, cvs, etc. Some experience with a modern javascript framework (we use jQuery) is good, too.

This job is great; you get to work with a ton of different problem domains and make a visible and tangible impact across an organization. The engineers you'll work with are talented and diligent. As a company, we're technology-focused. When you come on board, you'll pick the tools you need to be creative and productive -- we won't shoehorn you into a platform, OS, or IDE!
